Immerse Yourself in Local Culture at the Chicago Cultural Center

October 25, 2018

One look at the events calendar at the Chicago Cultural Center and you’ll know why it’s one of Chicago’s most visited landmarks. The daily schedule of events is stacked with musical performances, visual arts presentation, and family-friendly activities. There are tons of exhibits and programs to enjoy year-round, and that doesn’t even take into account the beautiful structure itself.

The Chicago Cultural Center was originally built over 100 years ago as a Chicago Public Library and Civil War Memorial. It features two domed ceilings, one of which is the largest glass Tiffany dome in the world. The other is a Healy & Millet designed piece in a Renaissance pattern with over 50,000 individual pieces of fused glass. A visit just to admire the building is well worth the trip, but staying on for one of their events is even more impressive. Check the events calendar online, as well as building hours and accessibility information.

The Chicago Cultural Center is open on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
