Pair Fine Wines With Italian Fare at Joe’s Imports

May 15, 2019

On the eastern side of Fulton Market, you’ll find Joe’s Imports. Though the name may sound like a car dealership, it’s actually one of the city’s hottest new restaurants. After Scott Harris’ venerable Francesca restaurant group closed all of their Glazed and Confused donut shops, Harris tapped Joe Fiely to oversee the opening of a wine bar on West Fulton Market. Fiely set to work assembling a list of hundreds of European wines available by the glass or by the bottle, specializing in Italian vino (hence the name, “Joe’s imports”).

The menu of small plates complements the Mediterranean emphasis on the wine list. Yelpers and food critics alike recommend the fried Parmesan puffs as a starter, as well as shareable plates of grilled octopus, broccoli rabe, and the midnight pasta. Be sure to leave room for the house-made madeleines with chocolate ganache for dessert. Once the meal is through, you’ll already be planning your next visit.
