Taste What Sets Gordo’s Tiny Taco Bar Apart From the Rest

August 25, 2020

Gordo’s Tiny Taco Bar puts a fresh twist on the traditional taqueria. For one thing, it lives up to its name with truly tiny tacos—they’re not exactly bite-sized, but pretty close. The pint-sized tacos afford guests the opportunity to try lots of different flavors. Another unique aspect of Gordo’s is that it doubles as a beer garden—the “dining room” is entirely outside, and the beer list includes many cervezas from Mexico, as well as a few from Illinois and Indiana.

Of course, you can also get a house marg (by the glass, pitcher, or shot) to enjoy with your tacos. Order a round of tacos to try, like the al pastor with grilled pineapple, caramelized onions, and cilantro alongside the chicken tinga with smoky tomato-chipotle sauce and queso fresco. The fish tacos feature Modelo beer-battered tilapia, while the chicken mole embraces a combination of rich, chocolaty mole, meat, and queso.
